News Production Assistant

Duties

• Supports getting a newscast onto the air.
• Helps maintain the technical equipment and knows about certain technical aspects such as operating a studio camera during a live broadcast, adjusting camera settings or operating the teleprompter and audio board.
• Completes research to complement the newscast, such as searching for visual elements that will be incorporated.
• Logs video footage and helps maintain the station's video archive.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledgeable about software and electronics and able to work well on deadline.

Experience Level

• A bachelor's degree in mass communications, journalism or a related field.
• Previous experience working on a television show in college or by interning for a television station, gaining familiarity with the production process.
