News Desk Assistant
Duties
- Works with an assignment editor and other news department personnel in a support capacity. This is an entry-level position that not all TV stations have.
- Collects press releases and helps select the most interesting ones, fields phone calls, performs research, coordinates video feeds, fact checks and monitors social media for ideas on news coverage.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest in and grasp of current world events.
- Knowledgeable about social media and proficient in business software (i.e., Microsoft Office).
Experience Level
- A bachelor's degree in broadcast television, journalism or a related field.
- A minimum of six months of TV experience, including internships in a news or talk show environment.
