News Producer

Duties

• Writes the news show and determines what stories will be included in a newscast and in what order – a process called "stacking."
• Communicates with news anchors, reporters, photographers and upper management.
• Helps the news assignment desk as they sift through news tips and searches for great stories to bring to the news team.
• Coordinates all aspects of their assigned newscast and knows how the control room and technical sides operate, including insertion of graphics and other visual elements.

Qualifications

• Knowledgeable about social media and digital platform realms.

Experience Level

• A bachelor's degree in journalism, broadcast television or a related field.
• Prior experience working for a news station, particularly knowledgeable about the production side of the industry.
