Commercial Producer
Duties
- Works with the sales team to develop campaigns and commercial spots for smaller advertisers that don't yet have the money for big-budget ad agencies.
- Creates promos and spots that promote the station's own on-air content, communicating with programming to identify what to spotlight and how.
- Works with the commercial writers to develop concepts that are on point and effectively convey the promotional message.
- Matches the best on-air talent to the commercial type, which may include hiring a free-lance announcer.
Qualifications
- Skilled at producing and editing.
Experience level
- Four-year college degree and prior experience in production and editing.
A radio commercial producer (RCP) marries creative skills with technical know-how. They understand the difference between radio and television commercials and what strategies work best to hook the listening audience and make key copy points top of mind.
