Traffic Anchor/Producer

This position can also be called Traffic Reporter.

Duties

  • Provides real-time information on local traffic patterns and accidents and gives advice on congested areas and alternate routes. This is especially important to listeners during the morning and evening commutes.
  • Researches and writes traffic reports, including weather-related traffic impacts.
  • Reads public service announcements or voices commercials, depending on employment status as part time or full time.

Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable about editing software to create online and social media content.
  • Knowledgeable about traffic data software and familiarity with the region's byways, mass transit systems and typical commuting patterns.

Experience level

  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Prior on-air broadcast experience is preferred.
