Commercial Copywriter

Duties

  • Works with programming and sales to create compelling copy for commercials that promote client products or the station's own programming, special events, station contests or community outreach and charity campaigns.
  • Engages with sales clients to determine their marketing needs and create sales copy that drives traffic for the client and revenue for the station.
  • Works with the program director and producers to identify which shows and news events need promotion and craft spots that capture the essence of the highlighted program and generate tune-in from the listening audience.
  • Works with talent and are involved in the production process.

Qualifications

  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Knack for storytelling in short bursts of time, from 10 seconds to one minute.

Experience level

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English or related field plus two years of prior experience as a copywriter.
